Despite the dominance of Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, and Novak Djokovic , Andy Murray managed to wrestle a few big titles off their grasp, including three Grand Slam titles. Two of them were won on home soil, at the Wimbledon Championships.

Murray pushed the Big Three all the way every time he faced them. He finally managed to end the British players’ drought at Wimbledon when he lifted the trophy in 2013, beating Djokovic in the final. He won another three years later, beating Milos Raonic to the crown.

With Murray on the verge of retirement and playing for the last time at Wimbledon, he recalled his rivalry against the Big Three and stated that it was never easy for him to win against them.

They were alright. They weren’t the easiest guys to get past. I was so fortunate to play in this time. All tennis fans are lucky to witness what they all went on to achieve. It’s been incredible to watch what they’ve done. Incredible to be a part of some of the matches in majors over the years. I was fortunate to manage to get through a couple times in big moments. What a time to be on the tour. Andy Murray said in a post-match presentation

A look at Andy Murray’s record against the Big Three

Andy Murray has spent most of his career playing against the Big Three of Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, and Novak Djokovic. Although Murray does not have great head-to-head records against them, he always made sure that it was never a one-sided match when he faced any of them.

The 37-year-old played as many as 36 matches against 24-time Grand Slam champion Djokovic and won 11 of them. He beat the Serbian twice in four Grand Slam finals. Apart from 2013 Wimbledon, the Briton also beat Djokovic in the 2012 US Open final.

Against Nadal, Murray won seven out of the 24 matches they played. While he never faced the Spaniard in a Grand Slam final, he met him in several other finals and won a few of them, including the 2015 Madrid Open final.

Meanwhile, the Briton won 11 out of the 25 matches he played against Federer. His most famous win against Federer came at the 2012 London Olympics when he beat the Swiss maestro in the final to win the gold medal.
