You see, in theory, I love a slightly more forgiving, loose cut—but anytime I've ever tried a dress that doesn't define my waist or at the very least, skim my body, it ends up looking like I've been eaten by my dress. So I'd just written off the style as something that might not be flattering for me. But every year when temperatures break 80, I find myself wishing I could find something that is not overly fitted so I can feel a little more breathable in sweltering weather.

And then I remembered that the Duchess of Sussex was seen out and about wearing the Magic Linen Royal Toscana Linen Dress.

First thing is first: linen is the superior summer fabric because it is the most breathable. And, I happen to have a real weakness for a white dress. It's high contrast makes anyone's features pop! So this frock was a no-brainer.

While the shape is certainly relaxed, it is still well tailored. It is narrow at the shoulders, without any restriction across the chest. This both allows for my natural shape to show, without actually wearing anything tight. And though the body is relaxed, the way that the fabric falls down to the high low hem almost creates a soft pleating that indicates, yes, there is a body under there. It's really elegant.

And another thing: unlike many white linen items, this dress is not see-through. I repeat: it is not see-through. I've also found it to be really versatile. I can wear it when I'm just chilling out at home, but, could I pop on a pair of flats and a really chic sunhat and sunglasses and look polished as I go about my day, in comfort no less? Absolutely.

At this point, I'd be shocked if I didn't add another color of the style to my closet this summer (I'm thinking black, but there are 8 color-ways in total). Besides, at $99 a pop, it's not an overly splurge-y investment. All around, I dress I can say I truly love and recommend to anyone. Especially if you are wary of the tent dress.
