WELL, THIS MORNING, THE SEARCH CONTINUES FOR A TEENAGE BOY WHO WENT SWIMMING UP BLIND PASS BEACH AND WENT MISSING. 3 TEENS WERE IN THE WATER WHEN A STRONG TIDE PULLED HIM OUT INTO THE GULF. >> 2 OF THE 3 WERE RESCUED. NBC TWO'S OR HOP AND JOINS US LIVE FROM BLIND PASS BEACH THIS MORNING AS THE SEARCH IS SET TO PICK UP FOR THAT TEENAGE BOY IN JUST A FEW HOURS OR E. >> YEAH. GOOD MORNING, GUYS. SO SEARCH AND RESCUE CREWS HAD TO SUSPEND THEIR RESCUE OPERATION YESTERDAY BECAUSE OF REDUCED VISIBILITY, BUT THEY ARE EXPECTED TO RESUME THIS MORNING AS THE SEARCH FOR THAT MISSING TEEN CONTINUES THIS MORNING. YOU CAN SEE THAT ALL IS QUIET HERE RIGHT NOW, BUT OBVIOUSLY WAS A MUCH DIFFERENT SCENE JUST YESTERDAY. NOW, ACCORDING TO THE SANIBEL FIRE DEPARTMENT AROUND LUNCHTIME YESTERDAY, 3 TEENAGERS WERE SWIMMING IN THE WATER NEAR THE BEACH WHEN A STRONG OUTGOING TIDE SWEPT THEM FAR OUT INTO THE GULF OF MEXICO. MORE THAN A FOOTBALL FIELD'S LENGTH. THE WATER IN THAT AREA ABOUT 10 FEET DEEP. SEVERAL PEOPLE CALLED 9-1-1, FIREFIGHTERS ARRIVED WITHIN MINUTES, RESCUING A TEEN BOY AND GIRL. BUT THE 3RD SWIMMER, ANOTHER TEEN BOY WAS NOWHERE TO BE FOUND. WE SPOKE WITH PEOPLE ON THE BEACH WHO SAW THE WHOLE THING HAPPEN. >> WE SAW ALL 4 BOATS FROM COLE SWART AND THEN THERE WAS A HELICOPTER AND THEN THEY HAVE A LITTLE OF BANG UP THERE. WE'RE LIKE A BUNCH OF POLICE OFFICERS AND THEN THERE'S A LOT OF POLICE OFFICERS IN THE PARKING I HOPE I FIND THEM FOR ALL THE FAMILIES. I HOPE THAT THEY FIND SOMEONE. >> AND THAT ALL OF THEM ARE LIFE. WELL, THE SANIBEL POLICE. YEAH. WELL, THE SANIBEL POLICE DEPARTMENT IS TAKING THE LEAD ON THIS INVESTIGATION. THEY ARE BEING ASSISTED BY LCSO AND THE COAST GUARD. >> WE DO EXPECT TO GET AN UPDATE FROM OFFICIALS LATER ON THIS MORNING AGAIN, AS THEY CONTINUE TO SEARCH FOR THAT MISSING TEEN SWIMMER A BOY. Search and rescue crews had to suspend operations overnight after a teen swimmer went missing at Blind Pass Beach on Sanibel Tuesday. Crews plan to resume search efforts on Wednesday morning as they continue looking for the teen boy.The Sanibel Fire Department said that around lunchtime on Tuesday, three teenagers were swimming in the water near the beach.Authorities reportedly were able to rescue a teen boy and a teen girl after a strong outgoing tide swept them far out into the Gulf of Mexico.The third swimmer is still nowhere to be found.It is a joint effort to find that missing swimmer.The Sanibel Police Department, the Lee County Sheriff's Office and the Coast Guard are all helping with search and rescue efforts.NBC2 will provide updates on the search as they are received.DOWNLOAD the free NBC2 News app for your latest news and weather alerts.
