LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — The “Beautiful Block Party” lineup was announced Tuesday. While many acts may be familiar to electronic music fans, some potential festival-goers may want a primer on who the headline artists are.
The “Life is Beautiful” festival was held on E. Fremont Street for a decade. The “Beautiful Block Party” is described as a two-day dance party at an empty lot at 324 S. Main Street, adjacent to the Plaza Hotel & Casino downtown.
On Tuesday, the party’s lineup, which consisted mainly of electronic music artists, was released. Those acts include:
Justice
This French electronic rock duo debuted in June 2007 with the album Cross. The group’s newest effort, “Hyperdrama,” is the first in 8 years and came out in April.
Peggy Gou
The South Korean DJ, singer, and songwriter’s debut effort, “I Hear You,” was released in June, which the artist described as “more than just my debut album. It embodies countless hours of dedication in my journey to create something timeless.”
LCD Soundsystem
The New York-based American rock band originated in 2002. Their most recognizable effort, “Daft Punk Is Playing At My House,” was released in 2005 and was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Dance Recording.
Jamie xx
Known for his work with the indie pop band “the xx,” Jamie XX is an English musician, DJ, record producer, and remixer. He’s worked with artists like Florence + The Machine, Adele, and Glasser.
Jungle
Josh Lloyd-Watson and Tom McFarland formed this British dance music in 2013, and their newest album, entitled “Volcano” was released in March 2023 with an accompanying film, called “Volcano, The Motion Picture.”
James Blake
This English artist released his first music in 2009, before coming out with a self-titled album in 2011. The electronic artist has a collaboration with hip-hop artist Lil Yachty scheduled for release in June.
Thundercat
Funk artist Thundercat was a member of Suicidal Tendencies, a hardcore punk and thrash band that was formed in 1980 in California. Since then, he has become a Grammy Award winner and appeared on albums from artists like Kendrick Lamar.
Toro y Moi
The professional moniker of Chaz Bear, Toro y Moi is a chillwave indie rock artist. His website describes him as a “genre shapeshifter” whose newest record, “Hole Erth” dives “headlong into rap-rock, Soundcloud rap and Y2K emo.”
Badbadnotgood
This Canadian band specializes in jazz, psychadelia, and hip-hop and has been performing as a group since 2010. In May, Badbadnotgood released a series of six songs called Mid Spiral: Chaos.
Neil Frances
According to the group’s biography, Los Angeles-based alt-pop duo Neil Frances formed in 2016 and makes music “with soul that you can dance to and believe in.” “Sydney-born Jordan Feller and Southern California native Marc Gilfry met in 2012 and formed the group in 2016, having both relocated to LA from London and New York, respectively, in pursuit of new projects.”
LP Giobbi
Taylor Swift released an LP Giobbi remix of her single “Cruel Summer” in October 2023. The house artist has been active since 2016 and was chosen as Best Producer in 2023 by DJ Mag.
Empress Of
This Honduran-American singer-songwriter released her newest effort in March. Dubbed “For Your Consideration,” the record is her fourth studio album and features artists Rina Sawayama and Muna.
John Talabot
This house music / electronic artist made his first release, “Sunshine,” in 2010. Since then, the Barcelonan artist has been established on the international DJ circuit.
Fifi
The Kosovo-Albanian singer-songwriter’s music is “distinguished by earworm melodies, energetic beats, and sentimental lyrics that explore the human condition.”
Two-day passes to the “Beautiful Block Party” start at $199. Doors open at 5 p.m. on Sept. 27 and 28, and the dance party will occur across two stages. Tickets go on sale Thursday at 10 a.m.
