In the last over of the match, the Proteas needed 16 runs to win and David Miller played a beautiful shot for six on the first ball of the over but he was dismissed because of an extraordinary catch which was taken by Suryakumar Yadav.

After the tournament got over, some rumours started doing rounds that David Miller has taken retirement from T20 International cricket but this is not the case and David Miller himself denied such rumours by making a post on his Instagram story. He wrote, “Contrary to some reports, I have NOT retired from T20 international cricket. I will continue to play for the Proteas. The best is yet to come”.

Senior Indian cricketers Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja have taken retirement from the T20 format after the T20 World Cup 2024 and now they will focus on ODIs and test matches.

One thing is for sure that David Miller is here to stay for some more time.
