Rep. Jafaru Leko (APC Bauchi), Member representing Bogoro, Dass, Tafawa Balewa Federal Constituency, has empowered 325 farmers with farm inputs in his constituency.

Speaking during the distribution of the farm inputs on Saturday in Bogoro, Leko said the empowerment was part of the campaign promises to his constituents.

The lawmaker, who was represented by Abdulrasheed Muazu, member representing Tafawa Balewa constituency in the state’s Assembly, noted that empowerment was the only weapon to fight poverty.

Leko said the initiative was aimed at supporting local farmers, by providing essential resources to potentially enhance agricultural activities, towards improving the constituents’ livelihoods.

He said this effort would also directly impact on the agricultural sector within his constituency, reiterating his commitment to supporting rural development through practical initiatives.

“The items distributed include 100 water pumps, 100 farm sprayers,100 organic liquid fertiliser and 25 grinding machines to 325 constituents.

“Farm inputs play a crucial role in enhancing food security by improving agricultural productivity and sustainability in several ways,” Leko said.

The Legislator pledged to sustain the initiative for people of the constituency to improve their livelihoods.

He however, cautioned against selling the inputs; and also encouraged the people to engage in farming to improve food production.

Alhaji Alhassan Sadiq, Chairman of the occasion, commended the efforts of the legislator towards empowering his people.

Sadiq urged those who had not benefited to be patient and wait for their time, as more empowerment programmes were underway.

Also speaking, Mr Rabiu Garba, APC Legal Officer and stakeholder in the constituency, commended Leko for the gesture.

Garba also appreciated all the party members for their patience throughout the event.

Miss Rejoice Gideon, a beneficiary expressed appreciation to the lawmaker.
