LG Chairman Monitors Distribution of Second Round of Palliatives to Lokoja Communities

The Caretaker Transition Committee Chairman of Lokoja Local Government, Comrade Abdullahi Adamu continues to monitor the distribution of assorted food palliatives to the residents of the local government area, in accordance with the state government’s directives.

The exercise which was flagged off in the local government by the Kogi State Speaker, Rt.Hon. Umar Yusuf Aliyu on Sunday, continued today at the Lokoja Local Government Secretariat with Ward A (100 polling units), Ward B (20 PUs) and Ward C (13 PUs) receiving 7 bags of assorted grains for each polling unit.

The Kogi State Commissioner for Water Resources, Hon. M.D. Farouk who chaired the distribution exercise noted that palliatives is a continuation of the Kogi State government’s efforts to supporting the poor and vulnerable to alleviate the present economic hardship.

The Lokoja Local Government Transition Committee Chairman, while addressing the communities, expressed his gratitude to Governor Usman Ododo for the support and the transparent mechanism put in place to ensure that the grains gets to the intended beneficiaries.

He also commended the Federal Government’s interventions aimed at bringing relief to Nigerians.

Comrade Abdullahi Adamu urged the Committees made up of 4 members from each Polling Unit to ensure that the items are distributed to everyone irrespective of their party affiliations as directed by the Kogi State Governor.

Also present to monitor the distribution includes the representative of SEMA, Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, DSS and other stakeholders.

Having already dispatched the items to Kakanda Ward, the distribution exercise continues on Wednesday, 1st May to the following communities Kupa North, Kupa South, Eggan and Oworo Wards.
