Bauchi High Court dedicates achievements to Governor Mohammed

Bauchi State High Court of Justice is as old as Creation of Bauchi State in 1976. Since creation, the Bauchi High Court of Justice Consisted of One judicial Division, 10 High Court judges and some Magistrate Courts. Which in 2020 the number of High Court judges increased to 12 when Katagum Division of the High Court was created.

The Historical Development of the Bauchi State High Court of Justice was contained in a Presentation made by the Registrar of the Bauchi State High Court of Justice Hajiya Fatima Abubakar Esq, at 2024 Ministerial press briefing organized by the State Ministry of Information and Communication to showcase it Performance under the good and examplary leadership of Governor Bala Mohammed from 2019 to date, held at Auditorium of Abubakar Umar State Secretariat complex Bauchi, Friday.

The Registrar informed journalists during the Press briefing that Structurally, Bauchi State High Court of Justice under the goodwill of Senator Bala Mohammed, Consists of 10 High Courts in Bauchi judicial Division and One in Katagum Division making 11 and 36 Magistrate Courts spread across 6 Magisterial Districts that includes Bauchi Magisterial District with 11 Courts within Bauchi Metropolis and 3 CMCs outside the metropolis, Azare And Misau Magisterial Districts with 7 and 4 CMCS respectively under them.

Others are Toro, Ningi and Tafawa Balewa Magisterial Districts with 3,4 and 5 CMCs under each respectively.

Barrister Fatima Abubakar said ” the judiciary being the third Arm of Government has the Primary function of adjudication and interpretation of laws. The functions of Bauchi State High Court are as provided by the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, the Bauchi State High Court law, the Magistrate and District Court laws and other enabling laws by virtue of the above mentioned laws the High Court has unlimited jurisdiction to try Criminal and Civil Matters and also to hear Appeals from Magistrate, District and Upper Sharia Courts in Criminal and Land Matters”.

Hajiya Fatima appointed out that the Bauchi State High Court of Justice under the goodwill, Generosity, Patriotism, Progressive and God Fairing Governor of Bauchi State, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, who from 2019 to date contributed immensely towards ensuring that the judiciary in Bauchi under the watchful eyes of Justice Rabi Talatu Umar is really a Temple of Justice, a place where all it Staff would be proud to Associate with his administration due the benefits they drive from the administration in one way or the other in the interest of Justice and fairness to all citizens.

The Registrar disclosed that unsatisfied with the previous #10 Million as monthly Mandatory to the High Court Bauchi for running it activities, His Excellency Governor Bala Mohammed in his magnimity and usual generosity increased the amount to #20 Million Monthly for Maintenance of the judiciary, that includes fueling of judges residencial generators, Maintenance of vehicles, plant generators, Courts and Office buildings, Purchase of Stationaries, Legal Services, Payment of utilities, Travel Transport and Printing of Non Security Document among others.

Other impressive and unprecedented Achievements of Governor Bala Mohammed’s administration that made Bauchi State High Court of Justice rise it shoulders among it Counterparts across the Nation, is the completion of High Court Complex phase two comprising 8 Courts Halls, Judges Chambers and Offices, Building of Magistrate Courts Complex comprising twelve Courts Halls, judges Chambers and Offices.

The Registrar added that it may also interest public to know that in the year under review the administration of Senator Bala Mohammed added Colours and admiration to the Bauchi State High Court of Justice by Ronavating Four High Courts buildings, Construction and Renovation of Magistrate Courts across the State and Renovation of judges residence.

“I beat my Chest to tell you that today all the above Projects have been Completed 100 percent by Bauchi State People’s oriented Government under our dear Workaholic Senator, Governor Bala Mohammed who’s multiple achievements surrounded the Bauchi State High Court of Justice”. The Head of administration said.

Barrister Fatima further informed that, other successes of the High Court of Justice Bauchi through the state government gesture are the Renovation and furnishing of Election Petition Tribunal Housing two Courts, judges Chambers and Offices within the premises of the old High Court in Bauchi, Renovation and complete overhaul of the roof of the new high court, called justice Ibrahim Mohammed Tanko complex comprising 8 Courts Halls, Judges Chambers and Offices at the High Court premises, Connecting the High Court Complex with Bakalori water supply line and Purchase and supply of 10 Toyota Camry Cars for newly appointed High Court judges and Khadis.

In his desire to ensure excellent Service delivery in the State High Court Justice, the Chief Registrar made it public through the Press briefing that, “My Bauchi Agenda”, of Governor Bala Mohammed is making a great impact in Manpower Development where he handled and still handling the training and re-training of judges with all seriousness it serverves.

According to the Chief Registrar ” In 2020 alone Four High Court judges went for International Workshops, 2 to Morocco and 2 to Kigali Rwanda, in the year 2024 His Excellency has already approved 6 International trainings first for Hon. Chief Judge to England in November, 2 High Court judges also to England in September and 2 other High Court judges to Rwanda in December and myself the Chief Registrar to Rwanda in November”.

While expressing unserved appreciation of Bauchi State High Court of Justice on behalf of the Bauchi State Chief Judge Justice Rabi Talatu Umar and entire Staff to His Excellency Governor Bala Mohammed, for turning around the Bauchi State High Court of Justice just within his five years in office to be able to compete with it who is who Counterparts in all aspects of development across the country, Barrister Fatima, said it is gratifying to make it public that as a result of Governor Bala Mohammed’s gesture for Manpower Development enjoyed by the Bauchi State High Court of Justice staff, our judges are nominated to present Papers and Serve as discussants at Workshops and Seminars organized by the National Judicial Institute and other relevant institutions like the National Judicial Council and the institute of Advance Legal Studies.

She said, “Today i use the opportunity of this Press briefing to make bold statement that all our problems have been solved under five years of remarkable and impressive achievements of Governor Bala Mohammed’s political goodwill to the High Court of Justice, especially for making it possible to increase the number of our Judges to an all time high of seventeen in the state.
