An 18-year-old driver and a child suffered injuries when a car drove through a stop sign and struck the teen's pickup in Sanilac County.

According to a press release from the Sanilac County Sheriff's Office, a 911 caller notified Sanilac County Central Dispatch operators of a two-vehicle crash around 11:42 a.m. Thursday at the intersection of Burnsline and Shepherd roads in Maple Township. Deputies, the Brown City Fire Department and Marlette EMS were dispatched to the scene of the crash.

An initial investigation by deputies indicated a 50-year-old Sterling Heights man was traveling north on Shepherd Road in a 2017 Infiniti when he failed to obey a stop sign at Burnsline Road and struck a 2004 Ford Ranger driven by an 18-year-old Brown City man headed east on Burnsline.

The driver of the Ford Ranger and a small child riding in the Infiniti were both injured and treated at the scene by members of the Brown City Fire Department and Marlette EMS before being transported to Marlette Regional Hospital.

This crash remains under investigation by the Sanilac County Sheriff’s Office.
