Fire fighter sustains serious injuries in motorbike training exercise

The accident occurred between Nocher and Kautenbach in northern Luxembourg.

According to the Grand Ducal Fire and Rescue Corps, a fire fighter suffered serious injuries on Friday morning, when he lost control of his motorbike and collided with an oncoming vehicle. The fire fighter was participating in a training exercise for the emergency services' motorbike squad at the time of the incident.

The driver of the car was left with minor injuries, while the motorcyclist received emergency treatment from his colleagues at the scene before being transported to hospital.

Paramedics from Ettelbruck were on the scene, alongside the Wiltz ambulance and the air ambulance helicopter. "The CGDIS wishes the injured fire fighter and driver a swift recovery," the emergency services said in a statement.

Further incidents on Friday afternoon

Three other accidents left several people with injuries on Friday afternoon.

At around 2.15pm, a car crashed into a wall on Rue des Ateliers in PĂ©tange, injuring one person.

Two others were injured on Route d'Echternach at 4.30pm after two cars collided near Gonderange.

Finally, one person was hurt after a car crashed into a tree on the CR103 at 4.30pm.
