Early Life

At the age of 12, he began selling drugs after his parents asked him to earn his own money. He later started freestyle rapping for cash.

While freestyling, he eventually met longtime friends Sheek Louch and Styles P. Phillips quickly developed a small underground fanbase and, at the age of 12, entered himself into a freestyle competition in Florida, where he attracted the attention of the owners of Ruff Ryders Entertainment.

Career

In his early days, Jadakiss was mentored by Notorious B.I.G, who mentioned the upcoming rap group The Lox in his song “Last Day.”

He formed the hip-hop trio The Lox, and soon after, Mary J. Blige helped them sign with P. Diddy’s label, Bad Boy Records.

While signed to the record label, they released “We’ll Always Love Big Poppa” as a tribute to the late rapper Notorious B.I.G.

As well as Mariah Carey’s “Honey,” Mary J. Blige’s hit “Can’t Get You Off My Mind,” and the release of the track “Money, Power & Respect.”

You have a reputation, whether you like it or not. The point is: The most successful people TAKE CONTROL of their reputation. Why? Because success and power rely on it.
