Education Commissioner Promises Continuous Investment on Digital Literacy

Determined to maximise technology for educational development, Ogun State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu, has revealed the Ministry’s readiness, to continuously invest in training and capacity building for officers and other stakeholders on digital literacy.

Prof. Arigbabu made this promise during a day training, organised by the Department of Planning, Research and Statistics of the Ministry, in conjunction with EduTAMS with the theme; “Maximising Benefits and Ensuring Long Term Sustainability of Digital Platform of Ogun State Education Revitalisation Agenda (OGSERA), at MITROS Residence Hall, Ibara, Abeokuta.

 The Commissioner said the present administration was committed to transform education through technology, noting that integration of digital platforms in education was inevitable.

 “As stakeholders in the education agencies, you play a crucial role in this transformation. You are the bridge between policy and implementation, between vision and reality. So, I am appealing to you to leverage on digital platforms for the betterment of the education system”, he said.

Arigbabu expressed optimism that the training would enhance monitoring of school performance and more effective policy implementation, adding that sustainability of the digital platforms was essential for its long-term usage.

In her address, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Mrs. Oluwatosin Oloko, explained that the training reflects the collective aspiration to transform the educational landscape of the state through innovation under the OGSERA, saying the goal was to create a modern, efficient, and inclusive education system.

Earlier, Director of Education, Planning, Research and Statistics, Mr. Temitope Lasilo revealed that the platforms offer unparalleled opportunities to improve educational outcomes, noting that informed decisions would be made on real-time data analysis, to enhance teaching and learning.
