Former deputy managing director of Nigerian Agip Oil Company (NAOC) Funmi Goka has buried her mum Augusta Davies (née Oluwole).

Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun was among those who attended the funeral service on Friday at Wesley Cathedral, Olowogbowo, Lagos.

The service of songs was held on Thursday and officiated by Archbishop Baruch Apoahoh, Pastor Tunde Adebayo-Oke, Pastor Ayo Adesola, Pastor Paul Adefarasin, and Pastor Ituah Ighodalo, accompanied by the Trinity House Choir at Harbour Point, Lagos.

Some of those who were present at the service of songs and wake were Toyin Saraki, Mo Abudu, Abah Folawiyo, and Nkiru Anumudu.

The deceased was the widow of a First Republic politician and nationalist Hezekiah Davies. She died on May 11, 2024, aged 91.

She has been widely eulogised for her selfless life of service, love and deep faith.

Mrs Saraki wrote in a social media post about the deceased, “Mama Davies was as renowned for her selfless patience, compassion, faithfulness and immeasurable love, as she shepherded her loved ones uncompromisingly upholding her faith, as she was lauded as a paragon of hospitably generous cuisine, great beauty, style and warmth.”

She prayed for comfort for the bereaved family in the assurance that the legacy of the deceased would live on through the generations of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, who will carry forward her values and continue to honour her memory.
