Forecast: Scattered sea breeze storm pattern continues

Updated: 2:05 PM EDT Jul 1, 2024

Southwest Florida's weather will be seasonable for much of this week, and that means scattered downpours and thunderstorms can be expected each day. The widest coverage of rain and storms forming this week will be widest in the late afternoon and early evening hours allowing temperatures to reach into the low 90s each day. Though widespread severe weather isn't expected each day, as is typical in South Florida sea breeze storms, on occasion some gusty wind and torrential rainfall is possible when storms fire up. For now, the 4th of July looks pretty typical for this time of the year. Scattered afternoon and evening storms are expected, so be sure to keep an eye on the sky and an umbrella in the car if you have anything planned outdoors. Though we have no tropical weather concerns locally, the tropics are active. Hurricane Beryl entered the Caribbean Sea today moving toward the west-northwest with 150 mph sustained winds. The steering influences around the hurricane should keep it well to our south, but we will of course keep you updated on its progression. The tropical wave following Hurricane Beryl is a long way away from the United States and for now, has a 60% chance of developing into at least a tropical depression in the next week. It's too early to determine what if any impacts it could bring to any part of the US. We'll keep tracking it and update you regularly on NBC2 newscasts.Follow the NBC2 weather team on social mediaChief Meteorologist Allyson Rae on Facebook and XMeteorologist Jason Dunning on Facebook and XMeteorologist Rob Duns on Facebook and XMeteorologist Justin Hobbs on Facebook and XMeteorologist Lauren Hope on Facebook and XWatch our forecasts on TV or onlineHere's where to find our latest video forecastYou can also watch a livestream of our latest newscast hereDownload our free NBC2 News app for the latest.
