Abia’s New CPS, Ukoha, Calls For Cordial Relationship

The Chief Press Secretary to the Abia State governor, Mr Ukoha Njoku Ukoha, has tasked journalists in the state to continue to project the activities of the state government in good light.

The newly appointed CPS to Governor Alex Otti, who gave the admonition while commissioning the secretariat of Correspondents Chapel of Abia State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), said government on its part will always cooperate with journalists in the discharge of their statutory obligation.

Ukoha expressed delight that under his tenure, the first ever office of the Correspondents Chapel was inaugurated, describing it as a sign that his tenure as CPS will turn out to be a healthy one between his office and that of Correspondents made up representatives of core media houses across the country.

The governor’s spokesman emphasised the importance of the media in the promotion of good governance as championed by his boss, Governor Alex Otti and commended the chairman of the chapel and his executive as well as the entire members of chapel for not only making stringent efforts to secure a secretariat in Umuahia, the first ever since creation of Abia State, but for honouring him with the dignity of commissioning it.

He appealed to these representatives of media houses across the nation to work closely with his office and stressed the need for a long lasting synergy between his office and the Correspondents Chapel.

On press-government relationship, Ukoha urged members of the press to come up with new innovations on how best to offer more service to the people, even as he vowed that he would run an open door policy and that will make himself available to the press at all times.

Responding on behalf of his colleagues, the state Chairman Correspondents Chapel, Chief Obinna Ibe, congratulated Ukoha on his appointment and asked him to work in liaison with journalists particularly the Correspondents Chapel.

He assured the new CPS that that the chapel would continue to publicise the activities and programmes of Alex Otti-led government in good light and thanked him for deeming it fit to come to commission the chapel’s office.

The chapel boss tasked him to always feel free to interact with members of the Correspondents chapel at all times and assured him of the cooperation and support of the chapel in the discharge of his official duties.

The commissioning of office furtured contributions and talks on how best to improve and sustain government-journalists relationship by some past leaders of the chapel.
