Veteran singer and activist Charles Oputa, popularly known as Charly Boy, has taken to social media to share his thoughts on the continuous detention of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu.

Speaking in reaction to human rights activist, Omoyele Sowore’s interview on Arise Television, Charly Boy stated that although he is not a fan of Sowore, he supports his comments on the Igbo agitator.

Sowore had said that Nnamdi Kanu is being held hostage in Nigeria, and some Igbo elites are behind his continued detention, because despite being granted bail, the federal government has refused to comply.

“Nnamdi Kanu is being held hostage in Nigeria. If you mention his name in some places, they do not want to hear it. They feel like he threatens the real estate of Nigeria. And his being Igbo makes it worse because Nigeria’s DNA hates the Igbo for attempting in the ‘60s and ‘70s to leave a country, they said is no longer favourable to their existence… there are some Igbo elites who are behind this,” Sowore said.

Reacting to the statement, Charly Boy addressed all those saboteurs in Igboland, saying that they are being watched and a day of reckoning will befall them soon.

He said: “I am not a Sowore fan, but on Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s right, he got it right. Northerners can hate the Igbos all they want but they can never Stop their shine. To all the saboteurs in Igbo land, there are people taking note, they see all that you scum bags do. For me, I am only waiting for the D day, because I know it’s fast approaching. Dia Fathers.”
