No Plan to Abolish Patrol Points in South East – FRSC

rootstv.ng 2024/9/28

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has clarified that it does not intend to abolish patrol points in Abia, Imo, Ebonyi, and Enugu states.

This announcement was made by FRSC Public Education Officer, Olusegun Ogungbemide, to address misleading reports suggesting the corps planned to remove these patrol points.

The confusion arose from a statement by the Zonal Commanding Officer of Zone 9 Headquarters in Enugu, Uche Chukwurah, during his visit to the Abia FRSC command in Umuahia, where he discussed a shift from static checkpoints to mobile patrol operations.

Ogungbemide reiterated that Chukwurah was misquoted, and the FRSC’s operational changes are nationwide, not limited to the Southeast states.

He added that the ongoing operational adjustments aim to enhance road safety and support security agencies, involving the provision of operational vehicles, ambulances, motorbikes, and personnel retraining.
