A woman took to X after her husband went to buy batteries for their home, but couldn’t find any.

A worker told him they were locked in a case at the front of the store, so naturally, he went up and rang the bell.

However, after a long wait, another worker informed him that he couldn’t get the batteries until he paid at the register.

“So, let me get this straight ..we have to be inconvenienced and treated like potential criminals, while actual thieves can walk out of the store with merchandise worth $950 or less and face little to no consequences?” the woman asked on X.

Locking items behind a glass has become a popular method across different retailers.

While the policy is intended to keep products in stock, many customers have had a problem with it.

Another shopper has shared their concerns, after finding the anti-theft measure at her local Walmart.

“Literally the entire beauty section at the Walmart I just went to was locked up,” they wrote in a tweet on X.

“You cannot even buy mascara without trying to hunt down a worker first.

“They need to have [people] assigned to stay in or near the area if they’re going to do this.

“Otherwise might as well remove entirely.”

‘YOU GET NOTHING’

The anti-theft policy is not the only thing customers are upset about.

Walmart shoppers who want to return their online orders will now have to go through a lengthy process.

The website instructs customers to fill out a form to get a barcode to use for the return.

Walmart return policy

According to Walmart’s website, in order to return items customers must:

  1. Select the items you’d like to return & a reason for the return.
  2. Choose “Return to store” to get a return barcode (eligible items will allow you to select “Curbside Return”).
  3. Review the return refund summary & submit your return.
  4. Check your email for confirmation. Bring this confirmation email with you to the store along with your item.

In addition to the barcode, the store also wants customers to bring their email confirmation.

Many have slammed the process and warned others on social media.

“Watch out for Walmart’s new return policy,” one shopper posted on Facebook.

“Now you have to go online to fill out return paperwork. It must be correct, or they will not accept it.”

“If you have changed your debit card they will only offer an E-Card which you can only spend in the store. But, if they have already processed the refund on the old card you get nothing.”

“Just another one of Walmart’s many new improvements,” the post ended.

Next to the shopper’s Facebook profile, they wrote that they were “feeling angry.”
