At just 17, Obinna Ikenna Onuoha, known on stage as ‘Eze Blaq’, has discovered his calling in the vibrant beats and soulful rhythms of music and has since carved a niche for himself in the industry.

The Imo State-born and rising star in the bustling music scene, Eze Blaq, shared that his journey began in the classrooms and fields of his senior secondary school in 2019.

“Music has always been a part of my soul,” Eze Blaq recalls. “During sports events at school, I would perform, and a teacher once called me ‘the singer’. That stuck with me, and it was clear what I needed to do—sing, because it’s not just what I do, it’s who I am.”

Recently signed by Shrine Records, a dynamic new label based in the U.S., Eze Blaq’s talent was recognised as something beyond ordinary.

“In 2020, my friends encouraged me to pursue music more seriously. It was then that I truly embraced my path,” he explains.

According to Eze Blaq, Godwin Jukpor, the visionary CEO of Shrine Records, sees a deep reflection of his struggle in my story.

Growing up in the tough streets of Surulere, Lagos, Jukpor understands the grit required to succeed. “Every day you make it home is a victory,” Jukpor shares. “Many see the success but not the battles fought to achieve it.

Founded in 2024, Shrine Records not only aims to propel musicians like Eze Blaq into the limelight but also plans to cultivate a nurturing ground for hidden gems in entertainment, ranging from music to comedy.

“We’re building a sanctuary for artists who are yet to be discovered by the mainstream,” Jukpor said.

With plans to expand by establishing a studio in the United States, Shrine Records is setting the stage for a revolution in the entertainment industry, one undiscovered talent at a time.
