Rochester, N.Y. — Two Rochester staples teamed up for a special event Saturday night.

The collaboration was between the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra and the Rochester Red Wings.

The event featured a concert following the team's game versus the Buffalo Bisons.

The first pitch for Saturday's game was thrown by RPO assistant conductor Jherrard Hardeman.

"Oh, throwing the first pitch was a lot of fun; I'd be lying if I didn't say I was a little nervous, but you just kind of buckle down, and you do it," said Hardeman.

"We do this every year, and it's always a fun time, you know, it's a very relaxed crowd, with amazing music, people would know, and you know we have a good time."

That pitch set the stage for RPO's annual free post-game concert, which featured an assortment of all-American classics and special solos.

The partnership is part of the orchestra's ongoing Independence Day celebrations.
