Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly prepared to break the world record for a transfer fee to sign Barcelona's Lamine Yamal.

Eclipsing Neymar? PSG 'planning' world-record transfer for 16-year-old wonderkid

The 16-year-old is currently taking centre stage at this summer's Euro 2024 in Germany, where the attacker is looking to fire Spain towards continental glory.

Starting the 3-0 success over a faltering Croatia side in Las Rojas' opener of the competition, Yamal became the youngest-ever player to feature at a European Championships.

Luis de la Fuente's troops are gearing up for a last-16 clash with minnows Georgia on Sunday night, when the Barca starlet could become the youngest-ever goalscorer at the continental tournament.

Yamal enjoyed a breakthrough campaign in the first team of Barcelona during 2023-24, appearing in 15 matches across all competitions, scoring seven goals and providing seven assists.

PSG 'willing' to smash world-record fee for Barca's Yamal

According to Mundo Deportivo, PSG are preparing to etch their name into football transfer history once again in order to secure the services of Barcelona's Yamal.

The report claims that Les Parisiens are eyeing up a £211m move for the 16-year-old, who would become the most expensive footballer of all time if that particular figure was agreed.

It is understood that Luis Enrique's side submitted a bid of £169m for Yamal in March, when the Spanish giants quickly snubbed the advances of the French champions.

Despite their well-documented financial issues and mounting debts, Barcelona are not looking to offload the attacker in the near future, with club president Joan Laporta describing the youngster as "untouchable"

With his current terms in Catalonia expiring during 2026, Yamal is relatively secure in his contract, which contains an astronomical release clause of £900m.

PSG planning for a new era

After half a decade of transfer speculation and false dawns, Kylian Mbappe has finally secured a highly-anticipated move to 15-time European champions Real Madrid.

Losing their all-time leading goalscorer and poster boy of the establishment, PSG are said to be on the lookout for a fresh superstar for a new era in the French capital.

At 16 years old, Yamal has the potential to grow into an all-time great, with Les Parisiens hoping that the Spaniard could help fire them to a long-awaited Champions League triumph.

PSG are no strangers to big-money dealing with Barcelona after the summer of 2017, when Neymar moved from Camp Nou to Ligue 1 for a record-breaking fee of £198m, changing the landscape of the transfer market for good.
