Dog Trying To Play With Toy That Isn’t Has Internet in Stitches: ‘Puzzled’

Confused as to why he couldn’t pick up a “toy” with his mouth, a dog left the internet in stitches over his persistence.

A dog owner captured the moment his goldendoodle attempted to play with a hand weight he had mistaken for a toy and shared it in an April 25 TikTok video. The bright blue weight looks strickenly similar to a dog toy he has, however, this “toy” he attempted to play with turned out to be a lot heavier and he could not pick it up with his mouth.

The clip, posted to the account @mr.mobes.and.finn, shows the determined dog outside trying with all of his might to pick up this so-called toy. He was able to get one end of the weight up off the ground. Trying to drag it along, he would take a step only to drop it and confusion set in, but he didn’t give up.

The text on the video reads: “He couldn’t work out why he couldn’t carry this at 5 months old.”

Luckily, the dog didn’t get discouraged. He kept slowly moving the dumbbell across the patio with his tail wagging the entire time.

The owner told Newsweek via TikTok that he doesn’t think his dog ever realized the weight was not his toy. But hey, he still got an “A” for effort.

Although this dog wanted to play with his toy, getting the weight could be a new trick his owner can teach him. Wag Walking shared in an article that teaching a dog to fetch can be fun, rewarding and even useful for owners.

By training your dog to fetch a dumbbell, dogs will likely learn to retrieve other oddly shaped objects since dumbbells are awkward for dogs to hold in their mouths. However, owners should be cautious about the size of the weight to keep their canines safe.

Viewer Reactions

The TikTok clip reached over 29,200 views, 1,819 likes and 19 comments as of Monday.

“He working out,” commented a viewer.

This isn’t the only pet parent who noticed their dog trying to get buff from weights. One person commented: “Mine lift them allll the time…they always seem puzzled.”

Another added: “This is nothing my dog plays with 30kg dumbbells for hours of the day. Absolute unit he is.”
