Woman Identifies Fellow Passengers as Kidnappers on Public Bus in Benue

Drama ensued in Otukpo, Benue South Senatorial District, when a kidnapping victim recognized her abductors after boarding the same bus as them. The incident occurred when the kidnappers boarded a vehicle from Otukpo to Makurdi at Ihotu Park, only to encounter the girl they had previously kidnapped and released after receiving a ransom. Among the kidnappers was a bag they had taken from the girl during the abduction. The victim quickly raised the alarm, holding one of the kidnappers inside the vehicle. Meanwhile, two other members of the gang attempted to flee but were caught by bystanders. It was soon discovered that the Ghana-Must-Go bag the kidnappers had contained N11 million in cash. An angry mob almost set the suspects ablaze, but the quick intervention of the manager of Ihotu Park, who called in soldiers and policemen, prevented the situation from escalating further. The three suspects have since been transferred to the Benue State Police Command headquarters in Makurdi. As of press time, more victims of the gang had come forward to identify the suspects.

The Benue State Police Command stated that the investigation is ongoing to identify additional victims, with the aim of charging the suspects to court soon.
