The Federal High Court in Abuja has fixed September 18 for judgement in a suit seeking the removal of Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje as National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Justice Inyang Ekwo of the Federal High Court in Abuja fixed the date on Friday after hearing final submissions from both the plaintiff and defendants.

The North Central APC Forum, led by Saleh Zazzaga, filed the suit challenging Ganduje’s appointment as APC Chairman, citing a breach of the party’s constitution.

The forum argues that Ganduje, from Kano State in the North West geopolitical zone, was illegally appointed to replace Sen. Abdullahi Adamu from Nasarawa State in the North Central zone.

The plaintiff seeks a court order restraining Ganduje from parading himself as APC Chairman and directing INEC to disregard all actions taken by the party since Ganduje’s appointment on August 3, 2023. The suit also alleges that Ganduje’s appointment violates Article 31.5(1) f of the APC constitution and exceeds the powers of the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC).

Meanwhile, lawyers for the defendants, including Ganduje, APC, and INEC, have urged the court to dismiss the suit.
