Miguel Amobi Enwerem, first son of late former Senate President, Chief Evan Enwerem, has officially announced his resignation from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) over what he described as “irreconcilable ideologies.”

Enwerem made the disclosure in a resignation letter he signed and addressed to Mr. Martin Nwasoro, the PDP Chairman of Atta Ward 2 in Ikeduru Local Council of Imo State, dated Wednesday, April 24, 2024, and copied to Geoffrey Ihemtuge, PDP Chairman, Ikeduru Local Council and Imo State PDP chairman.

In the resignation letter, which was made available to newsmen in Owerri, Enwerem said:  “I hereby, officially inform you gentlemen, that I have resigned my membership of People’s Democratic Party (PDP) with immediate effect. This is due to non-reconciled ideologies I have had within the party in my last 16 years as both an active member and local leader.”

The politician also frowned at the lack of constructive support he encountered both as a local leader and a political candidate, just as he equally noted that the current deep-rooted problems of the party at both the federal and state levels cannot be addressed or repaired in the near future.

“The party as I know it today is defunct, void of any serious political strategy, ideology and remains today a proxy to the North, thus disabling true democratic principles of National Character,” he said.

He, however, wished both the party and its leaders well in their future endeavours, while expressing his desire to still maintain a mutual relationship with his brothers and sisters in the ward, local council and Imo State in general.

It would be recalled that Imo State PDP in the past one week has suffered serious political setbacks following resignations by key members of the party, especially those loyal to Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha.
