Kate Henshaw was born on July 19th, 1971, in Cross River State, Nigeria, she is the eldest among four children.

Education

She began her early education at St. Mary private school in Ajele, Lagos before being admitted to the Federal Government Girls College, Calabar for her secondary school education.

She furthered did her one year remedial studies at the University of Calabar before moving to the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) where she majored in Medical Microbiology at the School of Medical Laboratory Science.

Career

She began her career as a health worker at the Bauchi State General hospital after which she was a model who appeared in print and TV commercials for Shield Deodorant.

In 1993, she debuted in the Nollywood movie, “when the sun sets” and her outstanding performances paved way for her to work with other producers earning her popularity not on and off screen.

She has appeared in numerous Nollywood movies and TV series which have earned her awards like the Africa Movie Academy Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role for the film Stronger than Pain in 2008 and a nomination as “Best Actress in a Leading Role” at the African Movie Academy Award in 2018, for her performance in the movie “Roti”.

Alongside her acting career, Kate has been a brand Ambassador for UK perfumes line, Blessing perfumes, “Onga” seasoning which is produced by Promasidor Nigeria Limited, Samsung Mobile and for top telecommunication company, GLO.

In September 2012, she was selected as a judge in the reality show Nigeria Got Talent and in January 2019, she was selected to be among the 50 judges that will partake in the CBS International Talent Show called “The World’s Best”.

In 2014, Kate Henshaw unsuccessfully contested as a representative of the Calabar Municipal/Odukpani Federal constituency under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party.

She was subsequently named Special, Adviser Liaison Lagos by the former Governor of Cross River State, Ben Ayade in December 2015.

Kate Henshaw is a humanitarian and philanthropist who is actively involved in various charitable initiatives and social issues regarding the less privileged.

She was married to British-born Roderick James Nuttal in 1999 and they have a child together.
However, in 2011 their union ended due to some unsettled misunderstanding between them.
