Nigerian Baptists To Host Baptist World Alliance Annual Gathering In Lagos

LAGOS  – The Baptist World Alliance (BWA), the global umbrella for Baptist family organisations, is set to hold its annual gathering in Nigeria for the first time. 

The global event will see congregants and participants from various countries around the world will storm Nigerian for the historic event. 

The gathering is scheduled to hold at the Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos, and at the Baptist International Convention Centre (BICC), Lagos – Ibadan Expressway simultaneously. 

According to the President of the Nigerian Baptist Convention, Rev. Dr. Israel Adelani Akanji, major highlights of the event, which will commence on Sunday July 7, 2024 to end on Friday July 12, 2024, is the 10th Baptist International Conference on Theological Education also known as (BICTE). 

The BICTE, he disclosed, will run specifically from July 5 – July 7. 

He explained that the Baptist World Alliance comprises of 51 million people across 130 countries in the world and 253 member bodies, which are unified by a primary mission to impact the world for Christ. 

The event, Rev. Akanji said, is expected to offer Baptists across the globe an opportunity to connect through worship and praise, prayer, spiritual and human development, networking, relationship building and sharing ministry experience. 

Dr. Akanji maintained that the Nigeria Baptist Family is glad to host the global Baptist Family and welcome congregants around the world to Nigeria in order to deepen fellowship and bond among its members. 

He added that hosting the global Baptist members is intended to leverage the impact of Baptist mission work in Nigeria and accord the congregants and participants opportunity to advance the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ in Nigeria.
