Conestoga Area Historical Society honors Native American culture during Fourth of July weekend [photos]
On Fourth of July weekend, one local history group paid tribute to the people who lived in Pennsylvania long before the founding fathers.
The Conestoga Area Historical Society hosted A Gathering of the People on Saturday. The celebration of Native American culture featured dancing, drumming and storytelling, as well as an arrowhead hunt and other activities.
There were also historical presentations; Scott Mellinger, a family genealogy enthusiast, gave a talk about the Conestoga Massacre.
The Conestoga Area Historical Society is located at 51 Kendig Road in Conestoga. For more information, visit lanc.news/conestogahistory.
