Eno To Renovate A’Ibom Assembly Complex and Enhance Safety Compliance

In a significant step towards enhancing asset management and public safety, Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno has announced plans to renovate the State House of Assembly Complex.

Governor Eno revealed this during a facility tour of the Assembly Complex on Udo Udoma Avenue, Uyo on Tuesday.

His visit was prompted by an invitation from the Assembly leadership to inspect the dilapidated state of the complex and explore necessary upgrades to meet safety and structural standards.

Expressing regret over the deteriorated condition of the facilities, Governor Eno emphasized the need for basic safety equipment and designated safety personnel.

He acknowledged the foresight of previous state leaders who constructed the edifice, which he described as one of the best in the country, but lamented its neglect over time.

“You have been advocating for the renovation of this facility, and I wanted to see it for myself. We now have an Asset and Infrastructure Management Agency, which will work with you to ensure government assets are preserved and maintained. This renovation will address all safety concerns.” He assured

Governor Eno applauded the leadership and members of the 8th Assembly for their harmonious and collaborative relationship with the Executive arm, which he noted has facilitated development and good governance under the ARISE Agenda.

He commended the Assembly for their legislative efforts that contribute to the welfare of the people and expressed gratitude for their cooperation despite being on vacation.

The Governor also proposed a statewide ambulance service to complement the government’s health sector initiatives, which include remodeling existing healthcare facilities, establishing new primary healthcare centers, and recruiting 400 healthcare workers. Additionally, he highlighted the recent approval for 100 safety and health emergency personnel.

The Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Mr Udeme Otong thanked Governor Eno for honoring the invitation and expressed the legislators’ appreciation for his unprecedented goodwill towards the Legislature.

He affirmed the House’s commitment to continued collaboration to deliver good governance to the people of Akwa Ibom through the ARISE Agenda.
