A 46-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder in connection with a fatal shooting last month, Tucson police say.

Gabriel Duran has been linked to the June 21, fatal shooting of Ray Bernal Jr. near South 13th Avenue and West Drexel Road, police said Wednesday in a news release.

Officers responding to calls about an assault found Bernal, who had been fatally shot, police have said previously.

Bernal was approached by men — Duran and 35-year-old Daniel Gonzales — and the three fought before Bernal was shot and killed. Gonzalez was arrested in the case soon after the shooting.

Duran was arrested on one count of first degree murder Tuesday and booked into the Pima County jail, the release said.
