A 45-year-old Tucson man was sentenced to prison after being convicted of drug trafficking and money laundering, federal prosecutors say.

Dennis Francis Kaleohano Kelly pleaded guilty in November to conspiracy to distribute fentanyl and methamphetamine, possession with intent to distribute fentanyl and international money laundering, the U.S. Attorney's Office said in a news release.

Kelly was sentenced last week to 14 years in prison by U.S. District Judge Jennifer G. Zipps.

Kelly led several people in distributing large quantities of methamphetamine and fentanyl between November 2020 and August 2021. He also mailed several packages of methamphetamine to Hawaii and New Mexico for distribution, the news release said.

Kelly was arrested in August 2021 after receiving a shipment of 10,000 fentanyl pills, the release said.
