BUTLER COUNTY (WXIX) - Police in Fairfield Township say a man shoplifting from Walmart pulled a gun on employees as they tried to stop him from stealing.
Now police say they have identified, arrested, and indicted the man behind the trigger.
Two years ago, police were called to the same Walmart on Princeton Road after a man opened fire in the store killing a customer and injuring an employee, so to have another person pull a weapon on employees is something authorities take seriously.
In an image taken from surveillance cameras, police say Setik is shown pulling a handgun on loss prevention officers at the store.
A few days after Setik was caught on camera, another agency arrested him.
“Two days after he was in contact with Hamilton [police], they confiscated the same handgun we found out to be used in the handgun there at the Walmart,” says Fairfield Township Detective Mitch Williams.
“He was in contact with Hamilton again, picked up and taken to the jail, we were immediately notified. We conducted an interview and the suspect confessed to it.”
The gun police say Setik was holding was not a real gun, but showing the gun was enough to indict Setik on a third-degree felony for robbery.
“I found out that it was a BB gun. As far as look and feel, I believe that if I was approached with that weapon to be a real gun and same goes for Walmart loss prevention, he believed it to be a real gun,” Detective Williams says.
Setik’s arraignment is scheduled to take place on July 16th, in Fairfield Township.
