Respected US-based Ghanaian Medical Doctor and political commentator, Dr Arthur Kobina Kennedy, has asserted that persons keen on publicly dispelling the notion that Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh is arrogant must accept that no one is perfect and advise him in private to do better with his conduct and utterances.

Following the confirmation of the Member of Parliament (MP) for Manhyia South and Energy Minister, Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh, as Vice Presidential candidate (running mate) of the  New Patriotic Party(NPP), some persons, especially in the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), have criticised him as an arrogant person not deserving the position.

In the opinion of Dr Kennedy, the concern of his being arrogant must not be disregarded by the NPP and persons defending him and projecting his strengths. He noted that it is his public commentary on national issues that have led to the tag of arrogance and he must endeavor to do better.

“Napo[ Dr Opoku Prempeh] shouldn’t have made the remark that he made both in relation to the Dumsor timetable and the Keta Sea Defence Project

 I am very sure that knowing Napo, in his quiet moments he would wish he had those words back…Those who want to support him must not try and pretend that those who are making these charges that he is arrogant are ignorant…We are all complex people and we all have faults. Those are some of Napo’s faults, but he has his strengths,”  he said on Joy FM’s current affairs show Newsfile on July 5, 2024.

He acknowledged that beyond Dr Opoku Prempeh’s shortcomings, he brings a lot of positives to the NPP presidential ticket for the December 2024 General Elections.
