Rochester Police Officer injured, guns recovered after Monday morning chase
ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — A Rochester Police Officer was injured and two guns recovered after a Monday morning foot chase.
Around 4 a.m., RPD responded to a call for two men walking on Hudson Avenue near Bernard Street, one of them armed with a handgun.
When officers got out of their car, one of the men began to run and threw away a loaded .22 caliber handgun. The suspect was taken into custody and a search revealed a disassembled ‘ghost gun’ in his backpack, police said.
The second man had a replica handgun in his waistband.
One officer was treated and released at the hospital for what was described as an ‘upper body injury’.
18-year-old Malaki Deaton was charged with criminal possession of a weapon (2nd), criminal possession of a firearm, assault (2nd), and resisting arrest.
