Police are looking for information on a suspect accused of robbing a Norwich bank at gunpoint on Tuesday.

The Norwich Police Dispatch Center received a 911 call from an employee of the Centreville Bank located at 40 High St. who reported the bank had just been robbed at gunpoint and the suspect fled the scene, according to the Norwich Police Department.

Norwich patrol officers and the members of the Detective Division responded to the scene to conduct an investigation.

Video surveillance reportedly showed a male suspect entering the bank holding a handgun and demanding money from the bank employee, police said.

The suspect fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of cash, according to police.

K-9 officers from the Groton Town Police Department and the East Lyme Police Department were called to the scene to  conduct a canine track for the suspect, who they were unable to locate, police said.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with any information about the incident is asked to contact Det. Steven Callender of the Norwich Police Department at 860-886-5561 ext. 3154. Messages can be left on the anonymous tip line.
