Barcelona continues to search for a new winger, it appears that a fresh name has come on their radar: Jaden Philogene of Hull City.

According to Alberto Martinez (h/t Toni Juanmarti), Barcelona is interested in signing the 22-year-old English winger and has already begun talks to do so.

Who is Jaden Philogene?

Jadon Philogene, 22, is a product of the Aston Villa junior academy, where he made six senior appearances and assisted two goals.

The Englishman spent two loan spells at Stoke City and Cardiff City, where he impressed, before signing a permanent move with Hull City for €5 million last year, with Villa maintaining a buyback option.

Philogene had a successful season with the Championship club, scoring 12 goals and providing six assists in 33 games. He has also made four appearances for England’s Under-21 squad, scoring three goals.

Philogene, a right-footed player, thrived on the left flank, where his dribbling ability and eye for a goal were on full display, and it appears that Barcelona has taken notice.

According to the aforementioned source, Barcelona has already contacted Hull City about the possibility of signing Philogene, whose contract extends until 2026.

Although Nico Williams is the primary aim, Barça sees the 22-year-old English ace as a backup in case the Spanish international does not arrive.

The plan is to sign Philogene on a loan with a buy option, which would favor the Catalans in terms of Fair Play while also allowing them to closely examine the youngster before bringing him in permanently.
