Netflix has yet another certified hit with Perfect Match. Just days after the shocking season 2 finale, Netflix decided to renew the show for a third season. The Perfect Match, of course, features reality stars from Netflix's other love series, such as Too Hot To Handle, Love Is Blind, Dated and Related, and The Circle. But it's host Nick Lachey who ties them all together.

While Lachey is easily one of the most beloved reality show hosts in the business. But fans would be surprised to know that he actually has far less to do with Perfect Match than it appears. But that's not to say that he doesn't play favorites on the show. During an interview with Vulture, the former pop singer and reality TV star revealed some fascinating details about Perfect Match.

Does Nick Lachey Know About The House Drama On Perfect Match?

The cast of Perfect Match season 1 may have gone on to change their lives since their story ended, but host Nick Lachey has remained. Of course, Lachey has made quite a name for himself in the reality TV world. He and his wife, Vanessa Lachey, jumped onboard the Love is Blind train early. And since then, Lachey has pretty much become synonymous with Netflix shows.

Just like how host Andy Cohen has with his Bravo shows, despite having to plead for his job following workplace allegations. Of course, Cohen courts drama, including his feuds with the Real Housewives. Lachey, on the other hand, is uncontroversial. This is part of the reason he has less to do with the behind-the-scenes inner workings of the Netflix reality show. He even told Vulture that he typically has no clue about the cast in-fighting and drama going on in the house.

Gossip runs high on Perfect Match, as it does with any reality TV show. But Nick Lachey told Vulture that he has almost nothing to do with it. For example, he knew basically nothing about Harry Jowsey's doomed relationship with Jessica Vestal. Much of this has to do with the fact that Lachey just isn't around all the time to hear the information from producers or the cast members.

"I’m not around 24/7 to see all that transpires. The producers do a great job of keeping me in the loop with daily briefings and how things are going down. I’m totally invested in what’s happening and trying to stay as on top of it as I can so I can be educated into what’s happening when I come to meet the cast."

Because of his own reality show experiences, Nick Lachey sees himself as the father figure to the stars on Perfect Match.

"There are times when I step onto the set and I feel very much like Dad. When I was in reality TV, it was a new form, we didn’t have the pressures of social media that’s reflected in Perfect Match," Nick Lachey explained to Vulture. "That’s a world that they all understand much better than I ever will. I can speak to the trappings of reality TV, of being in the public eye. I encourage everyone just to not read too much into it, especially as it relates to social media. It can be such a nasty animal at times, so I always encourage people to take it all with a grain of salt. Don’t believe everything you read and stay true to yourself."

Nick Lachey On The Cast Of Perfect Match

Every reality TV show fan has favorites. But Nick Lachey struggled to name one when he was asked by Vulture during his June 2024 interview. Though he doesn't spend as much time with the Perfect Blind cast as some fans may think, Nick Lachey absolutely feels a closeness with the stars.

" You develop genuine connections and feelings about people and want the best for them, and it doesn’t always work out."

Even still, Nick Lachey must remain natural during the romantic competition show, even though he has some favorites. As pointed out by the interviewer at Vulture, was a moment in season 2 when it looked like Lachey was about to reach out to Alara who was going through a rough time. Instead, he stepped aside and let the drama play out.

"It is sometimes tough to take a Switzerland approach and be neutral because there are genuine feelings and concerns. I always try to remind myself that my role in this is to be impartial and stay out of it," Lachey explained to Vulture."

But he did let slip that he was partial to Jessica Vestal on Perfect Match.

"I love Jessica because I remember the very first time that she walked onto the Love Is Blind set, she told Vanessa and I that she had a daughter, and I just thought, Man, that’s such a unique, cool perspective and storyline for this show. I was really kind of rooting for her through Love Is Blind and again on Perfect Match to find somebody."

Lachey then went on to address Jessica Vestal's ill-fated romance with Harry Jowsey:

"Then she gets with Harry. They obviously have a lot of chemistry, so I was excited to see the two of them. I like Harry. There’s no more charismatic person on the planet than that guy."

Who Is The Most Surprising Romantic Match Up On Perfect Match, according to Nick Lachey?

In his interview with Vulture, Nick Lachey admitted that Micah Lussier and Izzy Zapata's romance was surprising to him.

"Micah and Izzy, just because I’ve known them from Love Is Blind. It was a Hey, I’m still here kind of thing. I was like, Oh, wow, okay. Didn’t see that coming."

Lachey then admitted that Izzy Zapata was his favorite on Perfect Match.

"I always loved Izzy, going back to Love Is Blind, I felt he had a good heart. It didn’t necessarily work out for him on this show, but I could certainly identify with him."

As for those Nick Lachey does not identify with, the only name he mentioned was the notorious Harry Jowsey.

"Then Harry would be the opposite. He is a total playboy, and I’ve never felt like I was that guy at all," Nick Lachey admitted to Vulture. "Harry was very outspoken about the fact that he had a certain reputation coming into the show and he was looking to change that reputation. I’m not sure that this show did that for him."
