Former Black Stars captain, John Mensah, believes that Ghana’s National Men’s Football Team is performing well under head coach Otto Addo.

Mensah praised his former teammate in an interview after making an appearance at the 2024 Ghana Football Awards that had West Ham United midfielder Mohammed Kudus emerge as the Footballer of the Year for the second time in a row. (Click highlighted text to read full story)

In his first official games on his return to the top job, Addo guided Ghana to a 2-1 win over Mali and a 4-3 win over Central African Republic in 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

The former AFC Sunderland defender played with Addo at the 2006 FIFA World Cup in Ghana’s first appearance at the competition and is confident Ghana is on the right track to make it to the 2026 edition under Addo.

“It’s not easy with the way the team was before he came and now he is managing to put the players back together as a unit and looking at the games they played in the qualifiers, I think they did very well. We all have to put our trust (in him) and support him and I think he will continue to do well.”
