Fireworks suspected in apartment fire that injured one person in Milwaukee.

The Milwaukee Fire Department believes fireworks sparked a large fire at an apartment complex on the 4th of July.Firefighters were called to 84th Street, near Mill Road, around 10:45 p.m. on Thursday.Fire officials say one person was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.Video from a 12 News viewer shows flames shooting from a car and the apartment building.Witnesses say fireworks were being set off in the area at the time that the fire started. 12 News crews spotted a spent box of fireworks in the back parking lot of the complex, feet from where the fire started. Milwaukee firefighters believe the fireworks are what caused the fire and multiple fire departments were called in to help put it out.The fire damaged multiple apartment units.The American Red Cross tells 12 News they were called to assist displaced residents from the 18-unit complex. We have reached out to the Milwaukee Police Department to see if they have opened a criminal investigation but have not heard back. Fireworks are illegal in the City of Milwaukee.
