Kylian Mbappe 's real name has left fans stunned after an old FIFA card went viral.

The PSG star burst onto the scene as a youngster when he was at Monaco. At the start of the 2016/17 season the forward was hardly known by anyone outside of France, but by the end of the campaign he was a superstar who was coveted by Europe's giants.

Mbappe featured in Monaco's FIFA squad for the 2017 edition, but back then he was known by a very different name. On his card, a fresh-faced player is known as Lottin - which actually was his last name. The World Cup winner's full name was Kylian Mbappe Lottin - but he's gone by Mbappe throughout his career.

Even back then his pace was his super strength with the teenager landing a rating of 81. His other stats were 64 shooting, 65 passing, 74 dribbling, 39 defending and 62 physical.

The real reason why he and the rest of the family dropped the name Lottin isn't clear. His father was once known as Mbappe Lottin but now just goes by the name Mbappe, and his younger brother Ethan, who is also at PSG, has made the same decision.

Fans though were shocked to see Mbappe's face alongside the name Lottin, having only ever known him by his current name. One said: "They used to call him Lottin?" Another added: "He looks like Mbappe lmao."

The first time Mbappe really made a name in front of English audiences was during Monaco's Champions League last-16 tie with Manchester City. They lost the first-leg 5-3 but the young Frenchman was a menace all evening and produced a stunning finish to score at the Etihad - his first Champions League goal.

He then scored in the return-leg as Monaco went through on away goals before scoring three of their six goals in their last eight clash with Borussia Dortmund. The young team's European journey ended against Juventus, but Mbappe scored their only goal of the tie.

The forward's prolific season led PSG to land his signature, initially on loan, before they spent well over £100million to land him permanently. He's achieved everything possible in France and also helped his nation claim the World Cup back in 2018 with a move to Real Madrid now on the cards.
