WASHINGTON COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) - One man was killed and three other people wounded in a shooting early Sunday in one Eastern Carolina county.

Washington County deputies say it happened during a house party on Highway 32 North in Roper around 4:00 a.m.

Deputies say Verrick Parks, of Chowan County, died despite life-saving measures.

Also hit by the gunfire was Daniel Hurdle, of Chowan County, who was struck in the arm and foot, Tyreek Welch, of Chown County, who was shot in the foot, and Jaquori Wilson, of Bertie County, who was shot multiple times and is in critical condition, according to deputies.

The SBI is assisting the Washington County Sheriff’s Office with the shooting investigation.
