Smile Farms, in collaboration with Catholic Health, has unveiled their newest cooperative garden at Mercy Hospital in Rockville Centre, marking a significant expansion of their partnership. Supported by the Town of Hempstead, this initiative aims to provide job training and payment to patients in the Personalized Recovery Oriented Services (PROS) Program. The project, funded by Smile Farms, not only benefits the patients involved but also contributes to serving food-insecure individuals at Mercy Hospital's Family Care Center.

Over 1,200 Attend the We Are the Future Summit

In a remarkable turnout, more than 1,200 youths gathered at Nassau Coliseum for the second annual We Are the Future Summit, organized by Minority Millennials. With Sands NY as a key sponsor, the event featured insightful panel sessions, keynote presentations from distinguished thought leaders, elected officials, and influencers. Attendees were also treated to captivating performances by the Uniondale Marching Band & Steppers, Uniondale Jazz Band, and Rising HipHop Star Chow Lee from Hempstead High School, underscoring the organization's commitment to empowering young people of color with opportunities for jobs, wealth building, and enhanced civic engagement.

Teri Alessi-Miceli, a Smithtown resident and the president and CEO of HIA-LI in Hauppauge, has been bestowed with the prestigious New York State Senate Woman of Distinction Award. Five Towns College Celebrates Esteemed Alumni with Honorary Degrees

During the recent commencement exercises at Five Towns College, Justice William G. Ford was awarded the Doctor of Humane Letters, L.H.D. Justice Ford, an associate justice of the appellate division, second department, graduated from Five Towns College in 1976 with an associate's degree in jazz/commercial music before earning his B.A. from SUNY Empire State College. With a distinguished career in the judiciary, including serving as a county court judge and ultimately being elected to Supreme Court in the 10th Judicial District, Justice Ford's journey exemplifies the caliber of individuals honored by Five Towns College.
