Delhi-NCR Weather: Light Rain Brings Relief From Humidity, IMD Predicts Heavy Showers For Next Few Days

The sky remained cloudy throughout the day in Delhi on Friday, and 0.6 mm of rainfall was recorded in the capital. The weather remained pleasant, and there was relief from the humid heat due to light rain in several areas.

According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), the sky will be cloudy on Saturday. There may be light rainfall with thunder and lightning on Saturday. The IMD has forecast heavy rainfall during the next four to five days.

According to the Meteorological Department, the temperature of Delhi was recorded at 33.2 degrees Celsius, which is three degrees Celsius below normal. The minimum temperature was 27.1 degrees Celsius, which is one degree Celsius below normal. Thus, the difference between the minimum and maximum temperatures was less. This brought relief from the humid heat during the day.

The Ridge area of Delhi received the maximum rainfall of 2.7 mm. Apart from this, Mayur Vihar received 2 mm of rainfall, Pusa received 1.5 mm of rainfall, Lodhi Road received 0.6 mm of rainfall, and Jafarpur received 0.5 mm of rainfall. Apart from this, light rainfall was also observed in many areas. A day before, the maximum temperature in Delhi was 31.7 degrees Celsius, and the minimum temperature was 24.8 degrees Celsius.

After record rainfall on June 28, the monsoon weakened in Delhi. In the first five days of July this month, the rainfall has been 58 percent less than normal. So far this month, 9.8 mm of rainfall has been recorded, which is 13.5 mm less than the normal (23.3 mm).

Due to light rainfall, the air quality in Delhi remained in the satisfactory category for the second consecutive day on Friday. Apart from Faridabad and Gurugram, the air was also clean in other major cities of NCR. According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), the air quality will remain in the satisfactory category for the next three days. According to the CPCB, Delhi's air index was recorded at 77, which is in the satisfactory category.

Greater Noida's air index was 88, and Noida's air index was 53. Due to this, the air quality in both of these cities also remained in the satisfactory category. Among the cities in the NCR, the air in Ghaziabad was the cleanest. The air index there was 45, which is in the good category. The air index of Faridabad and Gurugram remained in the poor category at 112 and 102, respectively.
