Businesses in Nigeria are expected to grow luxuriantly as MTN Nigeria moves to build West Africa’s Largest Data Center, which reflects the increasing importance of effective digital platforms in the region.

The facility is expected to be constructed in Lagos to cover tens of hectares and equipped with the most efficient solutions to boost its performance and energy-efficiency.

In this regard, the MTN hopes to offer the right kind of support to enable innovation to flourish, boosting the economy of Nigeria and other neighbour countries.

It is also projected that the construction of data center will be very economic beneficial for the country.

In addition to the construction phase, it is hoped that the creation of the plant will result in creating many jobs.

Specialized and experienced human capital, particularly in the IT sector and engineering and environmental science graduates, will be targeted and built to foster local talent in the much needed technology industries.

It is expected that with MTN having invested in the development of the technology sector, other global technology actors would come into the region as well.

With an enhanced digital connectivity, Nigeria can provide the needed environment for the Multinational Companies to open up their businesses, promote the res in addition to strengthening the local economy and the technology sector.

Stakeholders see the largest data center as a step in the right direction in addressing the issues of the region’s digital sector and would fulfill what appears to be a continuously evolving global need for data services, encourages resource conservation, and stimulates economic development and technological advancements.

This approach is important since it intensifies competition and offers users more choices that in turn results in better services and enhanced prices.

This it seems is one of the main reasons behind this project, and will see the need for data services particularly in Nigeria and the West African region growing.

In today’s world with the global population count expanding at a fast pace and the use of the internet on the rise, there is a growing demand for better ways of storing data.

It is for these reasons that the new data center seeks to address these demands to deliver high-capacity and low-latency services critical for today’s digital offerings.

Another strengths of MTN’s project is that the firm is always keen on ensuring that the development project is sustainably conducted. The data center shall reduce its carbon footprint by implementing green energy in its production processes including solar energy. This drive towards green energy is a positive development that goes hand in hand with the global shift towards sustainable development and the company’s CSR.

In incorporating renewable energy into the data center, not only is operational cost cut by the data center, but Nigeria’s overall policy goals of environmental sustainability are achieved.

In addition the facility has also been planned to stimulate multifaceted regional development particularly bolstering the technological edge.

This is because, later this year, it will cater for as many applications as possible, including cloud computing, big data, artificial intelligence, and the Internet of Things.
