Suspects sought after injured man found in ditch near Litchfield, Minnesota

Galen Serbus, 50, of Olivia, Minnesota, was found lying in a ditch near Litchfield with an apparent stab wound and injuries consistent with being struck by a vehicle. An investigation is underway.

LITCHFIELD — The Meeker County Sheriff's Office is investigating an assault that left a 50-year-old Olivia man seriously injured and lying alongside a road southwest of Litchfield.

According to a news release from the Meeker County Sheriff's Office, a report was received at 5:06 p.m. Friday of an injured male found alongside the road on 600th Avenue near 230th Street in Litchfield Township.

When deputies arrived on scene, they found 50-year-old Galen Serbus lying in the ditch with an apparent stab wound and injuries consistent with being struck by a vehicle.

Serbus was transported by ambulance to Meeker Memorial Hospital in Litchfield and then airlifted to Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis with serious injuries.

The suspect vehicle was located and is being processed for evidence, according to the news release.

Multiple suspects have been identified and are being actively sought. The initial investigation indicates this was a targeted attack and not random. The investigation is active and ongoing.
