The Ministry of Communications and Digitalization (MoCD) and the National Communications Authority (NCA) have directed ATC Ghana, a leading tower company, to reconnect all Telecel Ghana sites immediately.

This directive comes after ATC Ghana alleged that Telecel had not paid its power and fuel bills, leading to the disconnection of equipment at tower co-location sites.

Following a meeting on Friday, July 5, 2024, involving MoCD, NCA, ATC Ghana, and Telecel Ghana, the government intervened to resolve the dispute. Telecel Ghana promptly refuted ATC Ghana’s claims as “utterly false.”

The matter has been escalated to the NCA for arbitration. In the interim, ATC Ghana has been instructed to retract their earlier statement alleging non-payment and to restore Telecel’s service without delay.

Techfocus24 has obtained additional information on the circumstances that led to ATC Ghana’s decision to disconnect Telecel, which will be reported soon.

This intervention underscores the government’s commitment to ensuring uninterrupted telecommunications services and resolving disputes promptly in the interest of consumers and stakeholders alike.
