Unilorin appoints 23 advocates as Gov’s aide makes list

The management of the University of Ilorin has unveiled the Senior Special Assistant (SSA) on New Media to Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara State, Okayinka Fafoluyi as the institution’s advocate.

The management said it was thrilled by Fafoluyi’s exemplary contributions to the media and the public at the colourful event was held at the school’s auditorium.

UNILORIN management stated that Fafoluyi’s commitment to excellence, mentorship, and community development of advocates necessitated the gesture.”

The authority of the University said that the Advocates Unveiling initiative is designed to honour alumni who have impacted their fields, communities, and alma mater.

According to the institution, “the initiative aims to acknowledge and celebrate these individuals, promoting their achievements and inspiring current students.”

“Fafoluyi’s recognition was a reflection of his substantial contributions to digital marketing, public relations and dedication to fostering the growth and development of the next generation,” the school added.

The Vice-Chancellor (VC) of the Varsity, Prof. Wahab Egbewole said: “As advocates, you will serve as our mouthpiece, championing our values of excellence, integrity, and community engagement. Through your leadership, expertise, and networks, you will play a pivotal role in promoting our institution, fostering collaboration, and enhancing the reputation of UNILORIN both nationally and internationally.”

He stressed that the honourees’ role as Advocates is not only about promoting the university but also giving back to the community.

“Your role goes beyond mere promotion. As advocates, you will also serve as mentors and role models for our current students, inspiring them to dream big, pursue their passions, and make a positive impact in their communities. We expect that you will share experiences, offer guidance, and provide opportunities for our students to thrive and succeed in their chosen paths,” the vice chancellor said.
