The remaining Liverpool players representing their countries in Europe and South America have all made it through to the last eight of their respective competitions.

In the Euros, all of England, France, Netherlands, and Portugal won their round of 16 games to make it to the quarterfinals.

England beat Slovakia 2-1 in extra time thanks to Jude Bellingham. Bellingham scored in the final minute of added time to even the score at 1-1 and force the game into overtime. One minute into that extra time, Harry Kane made it 2-1, and the Three Lions held onto the lead to make it through. No Liverpool players featured in the game. They face Switzerland in the quarterfinal on Saturday.

France beat Belgium 1-0 on Monday from an unfortunate Jan Vertonghen own goal near the end of the game. Ibrahima Konaté didn’t appear. Likewise, Portugal had to take it all the way to penalties in a scoreless draw, but they eventually prevailed over Slovenia in a quick shoot out. Portugal hit all three and Slovenia missed all three, making the whole thing a bit anticlimactic in the end. Diogo Jota came on in the 65th minute and played through the added time. He didn’t get a chance to try a penalty though.

France and Portugal have to face each other in their quarterfinal battle on Friday.

Finally, the Netherlands scored an easy victory against Romania. Star player Cody Gakpo drew first blood in the 20th minute, followed by a brace from Donyell Malen in the last 10 minutes of the game to finish them off. Captain Virgil van Dijk played all 90 minutes, Gakpo was substituted after 85 minutes, and Ryan Gravenberch stayed on the bench. Their opponents in the quarterfinal match on Saturday will be Turkey.

Meanwhile, in South America, Uruguay has made it through at the top of group C with a 1-0 victory over the United States and are headed into the quarterfinal. Darwin Núñez will come face to face with Alisson Becker’s Brazil, who came in second in their group.

In first place in group D was Luis Díaz’s Colombia. They will take on the runners up in group C, Panama in the first knockout round.
