Czech Republic Simplifies Employment Rules For Foreign Workers

Czechia has amended its Employment Act, introducing some changes that affect foreigners who want to reach the country for employment.

According to the Czech authorities, it has been made mandatory for employers requiring workers to undergo labour market testing to see whether they can hire workers from the EU/Schengen Area before giving the possibility to non-EU workers.

The labour market test took between 10 and 30 days and only after this period was over, non-EU nationals were eligible to apply for the jobs and obtain an Employee Card.

However, in line with the new rules that became effective on July 1, 2024, a labour market test is no longer required for employers as well as foreigners who want to apply for an available job and obtain an Employee Card, Schengen.News reports.

By making such a change, Czech Republic wants to unify the rules and, at the same time, also speed up the process for non-EU citizens to reach the country for work purposes.
