Super Market Sales Worker Docked For Using Boss’ N900,000 To Play Bet9ja Game

A 23-year old super market sales worker, Agbaje Abiola, has landed in trouble in Lagos State for allegedly using N900,000 realized from sales of products to play Bet9ja and it failed after assurances that he would win. 

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the suspect, Abiola, has been arrested and charged for stealing over his conduct on 26th June, 2024, at the super market.

The incident happened at Rasaki Tijani Street, Igando Road, Ikotun area of Lagos, where the super market belonging to Yemi Liasu is located.

According to the Police, the sales worker was informed about the numbers that may likely win the bet game with assurances as sure numbers. He took the money belonging to him, boss, Yemi and staked with the hope that he will win and return the money without informing the management.

Having been found culpable after thorough interrogation, he was arraigned before the Court for the alleged stealing.

However, he pleaded guilty.

The prosecutor, Supol Benedict Aigbokhan, told the Court that the defendant committed the offences at about 2:00pm on the said date by using the money to play a bet game without the consent of his employer.

He further informed the Court that the defendant acted in a manner likely to cause breach of the peace which contravened Sections 168(d) and 287(7) of the Criminal Law of Lagos, 2015.

He urged the Court to give a date for him to present the facts of the matter so that the Court will sentence him accordingly.

The Presiding Magistrate, K. A. Ariyo, ordered his remand in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town and adjourned the matter to 12th July, 2024, for facts and sentence.
